Walter Gordon Symposium — Canada’s Changing Energy Landscape
On Friday, March 24th, join the Walter Gordon Symposium on Canada’s Changing Energy Landscape from 9:00am-2:00pm, with breakfast beginning at 8:15am. Global energy markets are rapidly changing in response to energy security needs and demands for a decarbonized global supply of energy. While Canada pursues various initiatives to transition into a low-carbon economy, including electrification and the decarbonization of energy, energy security concerns facing Canadian allies are showing a need for energy sources like natural gas. This has sparked heavy debates across Canada about what Canada’s energy future should look like, for domestic and foreign consumers.
The Walter Gordon Symposium is named after the Hon. Walter Gordon, who was Minister of Finance and President of the Privy Council under the government of Lester B. Pearson. The annual series, which began in 1990 under the leadership of then head of the College, Ann Saddlemyer, was designed to present a topic of immediate Canadian significance to an interested audience drawn from academic, corporate and government worlds.
The event is co-sponsored by Massey College and the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy with support by Tom Axworthy (Massey’s Chair in Public Policy) and Carolyn Tuohy (Distinguished Fellow, Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy and Senior Fellow, Massey College).
